The Architecture Symposium: Ideas from the Fringe

  • University of Tasmania, Hobart (TAS) Churchill Avenue Hobart, TAS, 7005 Australia (map)

The Architecture Symposium is returning to Hobart from 4 to 5 March. Curated by John Wardle and Peta Heffernan, this program steps outside conventional practice to examine the benefits and challenges of thinking and acting on the “fringe.” Choose a one or two day experience – tickets on sale now!

As architects and designers, we constantly seek to inform our ideas by pushing beyond the boundaries of traditional practice. Some of our most creative solutions rely on collaborations with industries outside our own. What if we gave in to lateral thought, using our knowledge and creativity to lean further into engagement with industries on the fringe?

Join us as we step outside convention.

Day 1 (Saturday 4 March) of The Architecture Symposium: Ideas from the Fringe, held in Hobart will draw together a series of presentations by architects, and their collaborators, that examine the myriad benefits and challenges of thinking and acting on the “fringe.”

Day 2 (Sunday 5 March) includes a guided visit and lunch at John Wardle’s Bruny Island farm, the site of the award-winning buildings Captain Kelly’s Cottage and Shearers Quarters.

This is a unique opportunity to join a small group for a weekend of learning, inspiration and camaraderie in Tasmania.
