Is AI revolutionising the future of design for better or for worse?

The SA/NT Council collaborated with the SA EmAGN (The Emerging Architects and Graduate Network) to host a Soapbox Debate on the topic: Is AI revolutionising the future of design for better or for worse?

This lively debate saw individuals across various platforms of design and architecture argue their viewpoint on the role of AI in the design industry, now and into the future. We had a sell-out crown of 60+ attendees at the Allera Showroom, which was fantastic to see.

My congratulations go to SA/NT Councillor Linda Phompak and her team mate, Sky Chatterji, for their rousing arguments in opposition to the motion, which led to their winning of the debate.

We were genuinely enthralled in both side's eloquent, thought-provoking and discerning arguments, which shaped a number of post-debate conversations with everyone in attendance.

The debate would not have been possible without the ongoing support of Lisette Trigg and Linda Phompak who have driven this project since DIA were approached to collaborate.

My thanks also to Dr Chris Brisbin, for his skillful MC abilities and execution of the debate, and Miranda Spencer for being such a passionate and enthusiastic collaborator with DIA.
